Football NewsTivy vs Fredericksburg 9/8/23
by Rylan Schumacher In a big game against rival Fredericksburg, our boys in blue pulled off a big victory, winning 28-12. They started the game off a little shaky with multiple fumbles, giving up 12 points in the first half. However, they pulled through and took the lead 14-12 by the half. After that, they dominated the 2nd half, scoring 2 more touchdowns. Both quarterbacks, Rhodes, and Kincade, had one touchdown each, with running back Aidan Varwig scoring two more, and running for 184 yards. Wide receiver Stormy Rhodes also scored two touchdowns, totaling 68 yards. The defense also played well, only allowing 12 points, and forcing three turnovers. Safety Tate Fahey and defensive lineman Anthony Sanchez both had an interception, and defensive end Blake Gaffney had a fumble recovery. The Antlers were clearly firing on all cylinders, taking the team to 3-0 for the season. (stats from maxpreps) |
Volleyball NewsTivy vs Canyon 10/9/23
by Erik Rodriguez Last Tuesday volleyball lost to New Braunfels Canyon 1-3 at home. The ladies fought and played hard but could not make a comeback against New Braunfels. “We had a slow start and struggled throughout the game,” said senior Taylor Kubacak. “We definitely felt that we could have beat them, but this loss showed us what we need to work on.” It was pink out night for the Antlers, for breast cancer awareness, and both JV and varsity celebrated survivors and remembered those lost to the disease. By Erik Rodriguez Last Friday, volleyball played the Seguin Matadors and walked away with a 3-1 win. The ladies played well working together as a team. “They did really well overall, “said senior Grace Copeland. She is currently out with a season ending injury, after tearing her ACL, but she still supports the team in every way she can. “I was proud of the way the girls played” she said. The antlers will play on the road next Tuesday against veteran's memorial. Tivy vs San Antonio Pieper 9/15/23
By Erik Rodriguez Last Friday the Volleyball team played San Antonio Pieper at home, walking away with a 3-0 win. The Antlers played an amazing game as a team, sweeping the Warriors. Senior Karlyn Dyal said, “We played very well, not making too many mistakes, and we were just happy to come out victorious.” It was also parent's night for the Antlers, where both the players and their parents were recognized before the game. Next Tuesday the lady antlers will play Smithson Valley at home, for Spike/TFND night. |
